Mount Olympus and the God Apollo
to Greek mythology the Olympus had an important function. The Greeks believed in fact that the mountain was the residence of the gods, because he was the highest mountain that was in Greece.
Olympus is still on the border between Macedonia and Thessaly region of Greece. The Greeks believed that its peaks touching the sky. The mountain, since the days of Homer, was considered a sacred place, in which resided the twelve major deities such as Apollo. Apollo was the son of Zeus and Leto, twin brother of Diana.
