Lunar Mosaic Tutorial

Hello guys
I hope that my tutorials can help those who wish to engage in the laborious process to create mosaics of images of vast dimensions, like those of our satellite.

The first thing to do is place the recovery room ... it must be positioned so that with the shift command in the frame with the North \\ South & East \\ West is fully in vertical and horizontal.
course other very important thing is the setting of initial brightness so you do not have to necessarily adjust each shot. I opted starting with the brightest areas of the moon ... adjusted for not having saturated zone, and once towards the end of regular increasing Anyway .... to gain experience with these initial settings are automatic and "almost" to practice ... so better to start with small portions of the lunar surface and not pushing very focal length ....
omit the fact that you must have a perfectly collimated light, temperature and with great focus, determination and know how to zoom in on the basis of seeing .... I assume that those who are about to make a mosaic lunar know already these basic rules. (More obvious that pushing the focus of occasions we have to do, since it increases the area to be included).
Now you go around shooting real ...... very important thing is the beginning ... from that point again ... I always start by choosing go on the right side of the Moon from top to bottom being careful to move at right angles to it ... because then when you start to take back and you start to get there is the risk of jumping the outer edge of the disc vertically down ... so make sure you are not too too far into the lunar disc cutting then shooting the final part of it.
Here you start .... I would not normally go beyond 30 seconds at 15fps shooting "frames per second
is chosen from the first box being careful when you go to the next below to resume the final part of the underlying recovery ... not to forget the previous dead zones in the final work .... A
Once at the bottom "vertically" shall we move to the right "always be careful to have the area in common with the previous movie" and return again but this time in vertical climbing ... and so on until it is covered all the surface you want to have. I
The last time I took almost a direct fire with my SC 8-F10 Focal length 2 meters and the DMK "640x480" for the full moon I had to do more than 50 times to take everything so ... a great deal of work ....
Let's say you find yourselves .... 50 movies at this point here must be used RegiStax
" http://www.astronomie.be/registax/ " an excellent program for the sum of the frames.
If you've ended up with seeing an average of 5 / 10 added half of the frames captured every single shot and saved in jpeg format.
Now I found 50 files Jpeg .... if you think that should be already well ... "brightness, contrast, etc." we pass to another simple program "Autostitch" http://www.photo-freeware.net/autostitch . php
A small but powerful program that brings together all the images for the final mosaic ...
The only drawback is that any time you have to use it must be set ... but I just 3 little things and I think it is a problem. first you open it .... then Just click on EDIT: OPTION, here opens a window
need to change the value of JPEG Quality to 100, selected in OTPUT SIZE SCALE increased to 100%, and select GAIN COMPENSATION. give OK and you're ready to load software files.
Just click File: Open and select the folder where you saved all the files previously saved with JPEG Registax ... put them all in Autostitch meal and if you've made mistakes at the end of the development should have a beautiful mosaic that pays "ALWAYS" the amount of work done so far.
If you have holes or something comes out of it incomprehensible is certainly due to an error in your shots or "skipping a few zone files, or because you have a" Jpeg "in different format ... if we start with 640x480 remain so.
I apologize in advance for any unclear points in the various passages ... they are always available for clarifications and explanations in order to change any of the points of this tutorial is not clear for those who are going to create a mosaic of the moon.
What I can advise and "try & try" the practice is making a lot of experience in refining this technique and the results are always great personal satisfaction.
